The Empire State Marine Trades Association

Founded in 1975, the Empire State Marine Trades Association (ESMTA) brings together the businesses and professionals that make up New York’s marine trades industry. Representing members from Buffalo to Montauk, ESMTA serves a broad network of marine businesses, including boat dealers, marinas, boatyards, liveries, canvas shops, storage facilities, and marine repair and service providers. For five decades, the association has worked to strengthen the industry, support the businesses that sustain it, and protect the infrastructure and resources essential to New York’s marine trade economy.
Today, ESMTA provides members with valuable business resources, including access to workers’ compensation insurance programs, legislative advocacy and public affairs representation in Albany, professional training opportunities, and support for its regional chapters. By connecting marine trade professionals with one another, as well as with state agencies and elected officials, ESMTA advocates for the interests of marine businesses, addresses industry challenges, and promotes a strong, sustainable future for New York’s marine trades.

Our Mission
The Association works to strengthen New York’s marine trades industry by advocating for the businesses and professionals that serve it, supporting industry growth, trades education, and promoting responsible practices related to marine equipment, facilities, and the state’s waterways. Our association also passionately supports initiatives that promote safer conditions for our boaters and our waters.
